Maybe it’s an affect of more and more people being concerned that the U.S. may be going to war soon (Russia? Iran? China? Someone else?). Maybe it’s an affect of “mostly peaceful protests” destroying property and injuring people again. And maybe it’s an affect of people just wanting something that is new, different, or that looks cool.

Whatever the motivation, “tactical” firearms are incredibly popular right now and look like they will continue to be popular for the foreseeable future.

And just like anything else that is new, hot, or “cutting edge,” in many cases, tactical firearms are priced more expensively than “plain jane” models.

Now to be fair, tactical weapons often have additional equipment included, so there is often a justification for the extra expense.

But if you’re like many Americans who are still walking around with a belt that they had to tighten after several years of crazy inflation, you’re looking for a value, a bargain on your next firearm… even if it is “tactical.’

Fortunately, it looks like someone has been listening. From the American Rifleman Staff:

“Now, this is a first for Taurus,” American Rifleman Managing Editor Christopher Olsen said. “As you can see, it comes with a threaded barrel and an optic-ready plate, which is first of the kind in the G3 series. Additionally, this gun comes in a shoot-ready package. You get a zippered ballistic nylon case, two 17-round magazines, and it comes with four optic plates to serve many of today’s red-dot optics, should you put a red dot on here.”

For those who choose to stick with the factory open sights, Taurus supplies an easily visible pair of suppressor-height, Glock-pattern irons. A black cover plate is included to cover the milled slide. Additionally, a Glock-style trigger is also include with a blade-in-shoe safety.

They also note:

“Now since this gun is intended to be shot with a suppressor or a muzzle device, it’s not advised to run with a standard recoil spring assembly,” Olsen said. “So Taurus ships a secondary unit that can be used suppressed or with a muzzle device.”

Taurus also builds in a three-slot Picatinny rail on the front of the frame to provide room for lights, lasers or other accessories.

This pistol has an MSRP of $584 which means that the street price will be very reasonable.

Taurus is continuing to work to earn people’s business.

So, if you’re wanting to jump on the tactical bandwagon, without breaking the bank, the Taurus G3 Tactical may be a pistol to consider.
